My hard disk (with a ‘k’ not ‘c’!!) has a 60gb partition in it called ‘backup’. Surely if my hard disk fails, BOTH partitions will fail - because aren’t HDD failures usually due to power problems (serges etc.), meaning that should my HDD fail, i will lose both the original data AND the ‘backup’ data?
At the moment, i use a networked, external disk drive - but it is not very good (it was made by netgear)
Any ideas much appreciated.
I don’t understand how backing stuff up to this partition can make my data any mores secure - because whatever i lose from my main parition (due toa hdd failure) will surely get lost from the backup partition at the same time.

what is the point??

Hai friends,
My hard disk was damaged.(Not compleately, it is working but the system very slow and stucking always.) I tried to copy the files by using it as a slave, but it is hanging always and copying very slow. when i am using windows 98, little better. i cant copy large files.
please give me a reply if anybody know, how to copy the files….

I have a hard drive with a lot of data on it my windows xp comp can’t see.

I downloaded recovery software, thought it was free but has very limited capabilities unless it is upgraded. The software sees the hard drive, sees the files but it costs and arm and a leg to purchase the upgrade (really hate it when it says freeware but it ends up costing). I think this is a simple problem that the hard drive lost the hard drive map, or something like that and just needs it rebuilt.

Do you know of a recovery software that is free? I mean, really free.

Thanks for helping.

.

Can i get it back?

Seems like everyone recomends this and says its the best remote backup, but curious what anyone’s thoughts are here?

hello,

I have a problem and want all of you to help me.
hmm… I have tried to format my hard disk drive, but unable to format coz damage hard disk…

I still want to ask the same question, is it possible to to recovery data in crash hard disk? if possible, so how? Do you know any program to recovery data in crash hard disk? if you know please tell me……….

thank you for your time

I am in trouble. I dropped my laptop on the floor and now it won’t start. I had my college notes in it which I had been working on for 8 months. I was a fool to not have a backup for all those files. now I am in real trouble. I had stayed up all night for months working on the notes and now I think I have lost it all. when I tried starting the laptop it said ‘insert hard disk’ . so the hard disk has moved from it’s place, that’s okay but do you think the hard disk has been damaged and I have lost everything that was in it ? do you think i can still recover my data ?

I need a software for my hard drive cause well it had a technical problem and the only way to access it was to format it and losted all my videos and stuff T^T i have the programs to get it back but none of them picked up any rvmb, is there any out there? it has to be free though

My brother formatted our PC…I lost some very important files that were stored on my C drive. Is there anyway to recover these files knowing that the hard disk went through more then one Formattage? I m really desperate since these files are more then 100 hundred demos and loops that I created over the last 5 years…I can’t believe I lost them forever..I would really appreciate any help.

Thank You

I just purchased Norton Ghost 10.0 on ebay but my concern is if I need a external drive or can I backup using a data disk in my computer. Thanks

I know it’s only a difference of a couple dollars a month, but if these companies are offering the lowest prices, then using the cheapest equipment, how does that protect the data I’m expecting them to protect. I’ve been hearing about Citadel lately, any thoughts?

We recorded our wedding with a video recorder that took the little small dvd disks. but when we went to view it on the recorder, the screen said disk error. there was a prompt to repair the damage and we said yes but it said it couldnt repair the damage. we dont even have a clue how the thing could have been damaged to begin with. Does anyone know of an inexpensive data recovery service. we are hearing quotes of upwards of 0+.

Last night my second hard drive crashed and All the information was deleted (i know not really deleted) but the indexing was erased… I found the files using some buy now software that lets you look before you buy, and it;s there, but i don’t want to pay 100.00 for it, has anyone found some freeware/shareware that will do it, or if i have to i can buy some, but the cheaper ther better.
Let me say this again, i found plenty of software to buy $$$$$$$$$, I am not looking for that.. I’m looking for a NO COST OPTION.

Thanx for all your input…

I use my DVD/RW drive as a hard disk so I can backup, retrieve, and erase data files, quickly and easily. Use "copy" and "drag and drop".
InCd does this just fine - except when it causes problems.
I have read on the Web that InCd is a causer of problems.
From time to time my InCd DVD when it is being accessed will "freeze" my system, and then the disk will become "read only".No data is lost, but I must REBOOT, transfer the info elsewhere, and then reformat it so that it becomes a R/W disk again. I keep my "InCd" updated.

What, if any, are other options to accompish my purpose?

System: XP, 1GB memory 60GB Hard Drive
Using Norton Premier System Works 2005

Thanks

I lost my disk data which including photos, email, files and videos, I want to recover them by myself. Is there a tool that low in price but powerful and easy to use?

Im getting a new laptop in about 3 - 4 days (depending on how much longer the shipping takes). I backed up all my important files, music and data. have backup disks for all my programs. now all my saved websites on firefox, is there a way to save them or back them up simply?

I’m setting up an off site backup system where my primary office & remote office send each other backups over the internet each night via FTP. My original plan was to purchase 2 basic PCs and then install a 500GB HDD in each PC with serv-u ftp server on them. The "sending" office would use SyncBackSE to send its backup to the PC at the other office where serv-u server is running.

I decided to try and find a more all in one solution. I’ve looked at and purchased a Hammer-Storage N1200 myshare device, but the FTP server on it is very flakey. I was going to try a LaCie Ethernet Big Disk instead but I’ve read a couple reviews saying the FTP server on it was also suspect. I’m willing to spend anywhere upto 0 (each office, 00 total) for a good solution. Does anyone have any recommendations? FYI - My backups will be around 100GB and I’m hoping to use SyncBackSE on the send (or source) side.

i have formatted hard drive.now i want my data back.now ther no os installed.so if ther is any bootable soft that recovers data than it will b gr8

thanx

My Maxtor 250GB hard disk appears to have failed. How do I recover the data without paying {content}0’s and sending it away?
