QUESTION: I have machine with 5 drives. One was perfectly healthy until I bumped the computer into something hard while it was running. Now the I get the message "F:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." I suspect a read or write error took place - I don’t believe the whole disc suddenly became corrupted. I would like to run some recovery software. I prefer to run it from inside Windows (not at boot time). Can you recommend a software to use?

Will a system recovery disk work on a computer that is totally nonresponsive and can’t get into safe mode. Also, does a system recovery disk mess with the data in my computer?

I had a Mac on PC and it had a shut down issue so i had to shut it down manually a few times in the last few days, and today the disk just doesnt want to boot.

is it totally dead or can i somehow get data from it (software? can it help if bios doesnt recognize the disk?)
professional data recovery is too expensive

I need a data recovery from my SATA hard drive that failed. Can’t get data back. Had a recovery, but some important (sentimental) video files were not on recovery. I think it’s still there on the failed disk that I removed but kept.

Question is, are there any reputable companies that I can send my disk and have them recover all the data on that disk? Especially pictures and videos. I figure it’ll cost a lot, but I want the data if it’s still there.

Thanks for any advice.

i have a windows 98 packard bell computer model num 4350 and i dont have any recovery data and i dont whant to lose any data it says when im booting up some files are missing to start windows please help
what is a live cd

I need to know if this is an easy problem to fix or if there is a cheap way under 0(AU) to get the data back. It is an 80GB hard drive with less than 25GB of data. Would software recovery work? Or is it a mechanical problem?
It is a SATA hard drive out of a laptop. I have attempted to plug it in using an external hard drive casing but nothing was detected… please please help!!

Want to do it for some of my clients, have been researching, rsync, deltacopy, freenas and oscarbackup. Any info would be appreciated. Would ultimately like users to view backed up files and be able to download individual items. thanks
Thanks but i am not interested in reselling, i have the appropriate hardware and most of the costs covered.

My external drive decided to go bad today. unfortunately it does have a ton of data on it as i was just beginning to set up a new backup routine.
I need a good data recovery tool. It appears that the Master File table on the disk is trashed. It can be read find which i proved with a demo of a VERY expensive tool. Is there any thing in the freeware or cheap $$$ range that can help me pull my data off? Retaining directory structure and file names?
At this point, I just take the data intact…

Any recommendations? The utilities I’ve seen recommended on here were on websites that were rated unsafe by WOT and Mcafee SiteAdvisor.

Must run under XP.

Your experience based advice will be greatly appreciated.

My old hard drive is corrupted and I want to salvage the files on it using a data recovery program I’ve downloaded. However getting the program to read it is difficult. Do I need to reformat the hard drive? When I go to reformat it says this will erase all data on the disk, but according to other websites I’ve read it should be fine and I should still be able to salvage files. Which is correct?

have not yet clicked on formatting , probably going to call a computer guy and make him try fix it. Plus should I Buy some Data Recovery Software? and can i prevent this from happening further on ? Suggest me the Best the Anti-Virus too!
Thanx
Love,
Nicoletta

I use my Apple iPod Shuffle as a memory stick. It was working fine yesterday. Today, it asks to be formatted. Last thing that I did systems-wise was Windows Update, Java update and a couple of reboots while the stick was plugged in.

Below is what Disk investigator shows. Maybe hidden sectors is a clue that the data is still there.

Logical drive:
Size: 0 Mb (popularly 0 Mb)
Logical sectors: 0
Bytes per sector: 0
Sectors per Cluster: 0
Cluster size: 0
File system: UNKNOWN
Number of copies of FAT: 0
Sectors per FAT: 0
Root DIR Sector: 0
Root DIR Cluster: 0
Root DIR Entries: 0
2-nd Cluster Start Sector: 0
Ending Cluster: 0
Media Descriptor: 248
Root Entries: 0
Heads: 0
Hidden sectors: 294905205
SerialVolumeID: 00000000
Volume Label:

Tried downloading "encopy", a data recovery software but when I click on the stick drive, it asks to be formatted. I can’t get in to attempt recovery.

Can someone provide a solution, please?

I need to backup our SBS server with Exchange and SQL as well as open files, can anyone tell me the best software to do it?

I have lost some data in hard disk and I have successfully processed the data recovery, now I am copying the lost files to my hard disk in "Drive E" but I am receiving the message "The destination path you have selected is on the source partition. Please select a different destination"
Please Help Me, How Can I Recover It ???

my computer is getting frozen, so i want to use the recovery disk to maybe reinstall windows or something similar. do i have to back up all my data in it? or does the disk do this without erasing my own data?
i have windows xp

I loaded data onto it, and it was reading and writting fine. I then needed to put a different drive into the enclosure, when I went back to the first drive, it wanted me to format it. When I go into the disk manager, it says that it is totally empty. I used demo hard drive recovery software and the data is there! What can I do to make the data accessible again? I also tried converting the drive to NTFS and it stated the the drive already is. I then tried to do a chkdsk and it came back The drive, path is not valid.
I have attached this drive to 2 different computer.

The hardrive was crashed. I have tried to use a recovery disc , Mini PC , to get the data but I could not because the system could not detect the hardrive. Any body know other recovery software or any store ( in Bay area , California ) can help .
Thanks and very appreciate your answer
