The reason for the upgrade in software is because my tape drive just went bad so I’m upgrading it. I have used CA’s ArcServe 7.0 and am fairly happy with it. Not worried about ease of use as I can figure that out, I just want to see which is the best one and if anyone has had experience with them
My laptop’s hard disk not responding & seems like crashed. Is there any way to recover data from it.
I used a USB 2.0 to IDE or SATA adapter from Cables to Go to connect the hard drive from my tower pc(running XP) to my new HP Pavilion 9000 laptop loaded with Vista. The hard drive that I connected was the hard drive loaded with the XP OS, and also had a "system restore/recovery" partition on it. It had special recovery software from Emachines (the manufacturer of the PC) I think.
Usually when the Emachines PC is booted, it first shows the main screen with the Emachines logo and also mentions "[F9] for Boot Options] and the like. Then there is a black screen that says "Press [F11] to start recovery __". The "__" is a countdown that always starts from 2 and then goes to 0. When it gets to 0 it always goes to a new screen where it informs you that it is loading Windows XP. I believe the countdown was to inform the user that after 2 seconds, it would be to late to press [F11] and therefore would have to restart the PC in order to perform the System Recovery. Anyway, it no longer behaves the way it should. Now, instead of continuing to the next screen after the count down ends, it posts a new line in the prompt bellow the first one with the same text as the previous line along with a new 2 sec. count down. It repeats the same thing over and over for eternity. I let it cycle through about 300 lines of crap and shut it down. After several more boots, it does the same thing, and the only response to me actually pressing [F11] is that the current line’s count down ends instantly, only to create a new line. Is this because I connected it to a Vista PC? The hard drive definitely works, but why can’t it be booted from? It’s detected by my old PC and it even loads to the "System Recovery" screen, so it must be connecting. Is there some way I can make the hard drive bootable again?
Also, I already tried using the same adapter with my tower PC and tried booting it that way, but it also freezes on the same screen.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
We recorded our wedding with a video recorder that took the little small dvd disks. but when we went to view it on the recorder, the screen said disk error. there was a prompt to repair the damage and we said yes but it said it couldnt repair the damage. we dont even have a clue how the thing could have been damaged to begin with. Does anyone know of an inexpensive data recovery service. we are hearing quotes of upwards of 0+.
I use a [Toshiba 1GB] compact flash card in my Nikon D2X and the first time I went to download the images, to my horror, there was nothing there. I was able to playback the images on my camera at first, but now, I no longer can. I know a compact flash uses memory on a chip as upposed to a hard drive, which stores data magnetically on a disc. But is it still possible to recover data from one?
I recently installed an remote start, then suddenly my battery was completely dead a week later, I replaced the battery and had the car tested and it turns out there is a power drain on the battery when the car is off, the guys at Advanced Auto Parts said that it was probably the remote start sucking power when the car was off, so I went back to the remote start place and they said the drain wasn’t the remote start, they unplugged the "backup" fuse and the drain disappeared, does anyone know what the backup fuse is for???
and ummm im using DVDs not a hard drive cz i dont have one, so how does it work? i need everytime to back up on a new disc?! doesnt make sense to me :S
Trying to recover some files that disappeared after playing with partitions.
The laptop hard drive seems to have a lot of bad sectors however and is probably damaged. (Problems copying files, slow, etc.)
Should I try to to do data recovery first or try to fix the damaged drive. Will fixing the bad sectors affect the data recovery software?
my daughter has a canon powershot and she was trying to re-set the time ad date. when it said "format" she clicked ‘yes’. it meant reformat the scadisk memory. there were pics of the last days of her 3 year old son, and his burial at sea. she is devistated. she sent it to a data recovery place but they could not do it because it was a low level format. does anyone know a place that can retrieve the pictures? thank you
I have an 80 Gb hard disk which had about 60 Gb of data and was formatted accidentally. After formatting, data was added to it. I now need to recover the previous 60 Gb of data. How can I recover this data and what data recovery software will do it?
i am looking to do data recovery work.
i am familiar with tools that are pre-installed prior to data loss.
however I am looking for a GUI tool that will run from CD so I can retreive data from clients hard-drives without having to install software to the pc.
installing can over-write data so is not a good idea.
i want to be able to pop in a cd, or usb key would do, then browse a drive and recover files to burn to dvd or cd.
then i can do a reinstall on the original drive or transfer files to a new pc.
I’ve been trying to get some files off a dead hard disk (i.e. one that reports RAW filesystem), using the data recovery software from http://www.datadoctor.in/. Unfortunately almost all files have failed to be recovered properly, even though the software has detected the structure of the directories, and the file names. The only files that seem to work are almost entirely within zip files.
Have I been doing something wrong?
Are there any alternative pieces of free software that would do a better job?
Thanks
I Need A famous and advanced Windows Data Recovery Software, I have downloaded most of the softwares but they do not detect the deleted folders, A folder has been deleted from my Hard Disk, and i am unable to recover that folder, Is there any Data Recovery Software which can detect and recover all kind(format) of files and big size folders? Please guide me.
Hi, I am looking for means (data recovery tool or any other method) by which I can recover data from a hard disk which was encrypted using Safeguard Easy from Utimaco. The data is absolutely important to me. The OS (XP) was formatted and safeguard reinstalled. However the old partitions remain beyond capture. If you can please help me in this, I would remain ever grateful.
My hard drive just decided to fail. the thing still works, but windows doesn’t even recognize it anymore. A friend of mine worked on it for all of five seconds and discovered that the file system read RAW instead of the original NTFS I formatted it with. I’ve search the internet for data recovery software, however, the price tag doesn’t make things any easier. I don’t want to be cheap or anything, I’ll pay the money…but I’m wondering is there a freeware or open source program out there that will do everything that the retail data recovery program can do?
For example: there’s a program called GetDataBack that will restore my files…but is there a free program that will do all GetDataBack (or equivalent) can do?
I’m just curious..
Thanks
If at all possible I would like to recover with the directory structure intact…
I want complete details about system recovery disc and recovery console. I have to format my complete hard disc. all the data will be erased. Will system recovery disc also be erased or not. Actually, where does this system recovery disc will be saved on my computer and how much space is required. after formatting my hard disc, how can i recover all my data through the system recovery disc?
I recently lost around half of my files and data due to the Disk Cleanup Utility on my PC. I would like to know which data recovery utility is best for recovering all of my files. I lost things like movies, music, program files, etc. Which program will recover them and put them back exactly where they were-the way they were? Price is no object for the programs. 10 points for the best answer.
Also, I have already tried System Restore and it did not work.
Has anyone ever done data recovery from an (external) hard disk?
There are some service/shops that do this, even if the disk is broken in two (mine is just not working somewhere in the power connection), but I don’t know the cost.
Have anyone do it so he can tell an estimated cost?
So I woke up 4 months ago (on 15/7, I still remember!) to find my USB Hard Disk empty. I took it to a technical and he couldn’t do anything but format the hard disk. Any Ideas? Because that data was really dear.
The technie guy used it on another computer, and I tried it on both the laptop and the desktop, so yeah, I did try it on more than one computer.
