Data recovery hard-drive cost?
Has anyone ever done data recovery from an (external) hard disk?
There are some service/shops that do this, even if the disk is broken in two (mine is just not working somewhere in the power connection), but I don’t know the cost.
Have anyone do it so he can tell an estimated cost?
Depending where you are located and the problems of the drive itself Data recovery may vary from 50$ to 2000$ on a regular Hard Drives.
50$-200$ jobs are generally made by "Normal computer Technician" in this case it’s high level data recovery (generally they plug the hard drive as slave and try to extract data directly from the drive itself trough software in many case this solution works).
200$-2000$ jobs are then made by specialized Data Recovery Shop those shop has specialized equipment to properly diagnostic the Hard Drive, repair it and extract the data from it. They will take all precautions to avoid lost of data.
Generally speaking those company offer a free appraisal for the work and then you choose either you want to do the jobs or not.
If your data worth somethings to your eyes go directly to a specialized data recovery shop in your local area try calling a few one and see the feeling you have with each one before choosing one. Even if there is possibilities that "Normal Technician" can d the jobs they are also chances that they "Kill the drive" and raise the price for data recovery from an expert company.
Hope it helps.
In USA it sosts about 100 dollars for a basic recovery attempt. There is another method that is sometimes used but it is more than twice the price.

yeah i had mine done not too long ago vasiliki it cost me about 70$ aus..but it was through a friend it about usally $150 here.. there is a programe called" partion magic."….but i would not recomend you use it unless u know excatttly how ur pc..boots up or is set up u cant get in more trouble…i suggest u spend that money to get it fixed and buy a new hardrive install that one… as the new hardrive and when u get ur old hardrive recoverd ..buy an external unit so u can use it in ur usb port…. its the best way to get around it with out loosing any data. so now u will have an external usb hard drive with all ur past data and ur new hard drive… just make sure u know from where ur pc boots from..for instance my booted from my .cd….. other wise when u install windows again it will not function properly mine went to 1,000 zoom level very large font could not fix it..i sugges to do what i said abotut he 2 hard drives but get the tech,to do it its worth spendign a couple $ 200 …good luck..
