Do i have to back up my files if i want to reinstall windows with the recovery disk?
my computer is getting frozen, so i want to use the recovery disk to maybe reinstall windows or something similar. do i have to back up all my data in it? or does the disk do this without erasing my own data?
i have windows xp
if the recovery disk that you have came with your pc, you might as well backup your data for that disk would reformat your pc and restore it in factory settings.
The recovery disk does not reinstall windows, it just puts it in a functional state. If you reinstall windows from a installation disk and do not do a clean install. The problem will still be there after you are done. Backups are only useful if done before a virus.
Yes, you have to back up your data first. System Recovery disk will wipe everything off. Try booting from safe mode and backup all your data.
After Backing Up, just before using recovery disk, Try downloading Service Pack 3 for XP and install it. It might fix the error.
If you already have Service Pack 3 then, better to do a full system recovery.
No, you’d have to back the data up yourself. Backups do not work for programs though. You’d have to reinstall all of those.
it wont be necessary.dont waste your time in backup.but make sure that your power(your AC power suplly to PC) doesn’t till the installation is complete otherwise you will be doomed
