If you know about the software, I will not go into it... But you can use either an external drive, hook it up as a "slave" inside the computer itself if you have the slot for it (may require buying a cable and power splitter cable) or even an external cable/power supply that does not require a case (for short term fixes)...

This is the one that use: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3249952&CatId=3770

The software that I use with it is: Filerecovery Professional...

These cables have an advantage in that it can be used for multiple hard drives in the future and is easy to use because there is no case involved...

The best option is to hook it up to another computer as a SECOND hard drive. This will allow you to directly access the hard drive and copy files as needed.

It's also free, no additional software required. Hope that helps.

you don't need to pay anything to get it fixed if you know what you are doing wrong that causes the problem, you will have the same problem with any computer if you don't operate it properly, most times you can "repair" it by using the recovery console, by doing a repair install or running a good antivirus or malware program like malwarebytes. either boot from the cd and do a recovery or if you don't have one borrow a windows installation cd/dvd then you can do a repair install or run the recovery console by booting from the CD ( you may have to change the boot order in the bios) from the recovery console run first "chkdsk /r" then run "fixmbr" then run "Fixboot" then reboot. you can also download a recovery console image from the internet
