Question regarding swapping out a hard drive/ loading software?
I’d like to swap out the hard drive on my Compaq Persario desktop computer, running Windows XP. The physical part of it I can handle, but is the software end of it as easy as puting my reformat/recovery disc in the disc drive and then booting up on that to load everything I need to have it run correctly? Also, are there any special considerations to think of when looking for the replacemet hard drive?
Thanks!!
if you put the windows disk in on a fresh hdd youre going to need to fully reinstall. that means reentering all your info and so forth, as well as your serial number. If you made a backup of the disk itself (like on an external or in cd volumes) it should let you put that image on the new hdd and it should function as if nothing happened except for a change in the size.
