my hard disk is corrupted and what can i do to recover the data in it??
It is totally screwed, i can’t even start up the windows properly. The monitor just shows " …. corrupted… boot up disk required…" or something like that.

Some motherboard manufacturer advise to keep some free space at the end of hard disk for recovery of OS/Data I do not know whether it is advised by the motherboard manufacturer only or otherwise it is also recommended as a general. My question is how much space to keep free and whether it is to be kept as a partitioned or un-partitioned space.

i am having a doubt about how the data is recovering from a formatted hard disk…can anyone let me know about this…..

hi, my hard disk become very slow from yesterday.
I kinda think the firmware is corrupted.
It is accessible, however, it is super slow.
Do you know a easy fix way, or how to copy data to another disk, since it is so slow, copy is hardly doable.

thank you!

My hard disk (with a ‘k’ not ‘c’!!) has a 60gb partition in it called ‘backup’. Surely if my hard disk fails, BOTH partitions will fail - because aren’t HDD failures usually due to power problems (serges etc.), meaning that should my HDD fail, i will lose both the original data AND the ‘backup’ data?
At the moment, i use a networked, external disk drive - but it is not very good (it was made by netgear)
Any ideas much appreciated.
I don’t understand how backing stuff up to this partition can make my data any mores secure - because whatever i lose from my main parition (due toa hdd failure) will surely get lost from the backup partition at the same time.

what is the point??

Hai friends,
My hard disk was damaged.(Not compleately, it is working but the system very slow and stucking always.) I tried to copy the files by using it as a slave, but it is hanging always and copying very slow. when i am using windows 98, little better. i cant copy large files.
please give me a reply if anybody know, how to copy the files….

I am in trouble. I dropped my laptop on the floor and now it won’t start. I had my college notes in it which I had been working on for 8 months. I was a fool to not have a backup for all those files. now I am in real trouble. I had stayed up all night for months working on the notes and now I think I have lost it all. when I tried starting the laptop it said ‘insert hard disk’ . so the hard disk has moved from it’s place, that’s okay but do you think the hard disk has been damaged and I have lost everything that was in it ? do you think i can still recover my data ?

My brother formatted our PC…I lost some very important files that were stored on my C drive. Is there anyway to recover these files knowing that the hard disk went through more then one Formattage? I m really desperate since these files are more then 100 hundred demos and loops that I created over the last 5 years…I can’t believe I lost them forever..I would really appreciate any help.

Thank You

I use my DVD/RW drive as a hard disk so I can backup, retrieve, and erase data files, quickly and easily. Use "copy" and "drag and drop".
InCd does this just fine - except when it causes problems.
I have read on the Web that InCd is a causer of problems.
From time to time my InCd DVD when it is being accessed will "freeze" my system, and then the disk will become "read only".No data is lost, but I must REBOOT, transfer the info elsewhere, and then reformat it so that it becomes a R/W disk again. I keep my "InCd" updated.

What, if any, are other options to accompish my purpose?

System: XP, 1GB memory 60GB Hard Drive
Using Norton Premier System Works 2005

Thanks

My Maxtor 250GB hard disk appears to have failed. How do I recover the data without paying {content}0’s and sending it away?

I recently backed up data onto a external usb drive using the windows XP backup utility.
My 60 GB hard disk (with three partitions) crashed yesterday and is not recoverable. I bought a 250 GB hardisk and have reloaded windows XP. How do I restore the data/programs from my backup drive? I have made three partitions in my new drive. How will the restoration know where to put things, since my new hard disk is larger in capacity?

I want to recover data from my formatted hard disk.kindly suggest the best software with which i can recover pictures as well as movies and acrobat data.

I have a hard disk that I formatted like a dumb ass when I wasn’t supposed to I know there is software for 0 you can buy but what software really works? What ones have you had luck with? Please let me know.

1] Does the sytem creat an exact replica of the data selected for backup ?

2] Where is the backup file stored and will it be not lost if hard disk fails ?

3] How is the data restored using backup file ? If I have a tree of folderes, sub-folders, files etc. which have been backed up, will they be restored in the same order during the data restoration process ?

4] What are the pros and cons of backing up data on an external disk like CD or DVD ?

5] How does the backup file act during restoration process ?

PS: Please do not suggest a web article unless it has a comprehensive information.

I am recent grad looking for a job. That means I need the laptop badly and don’t have much money to fix it. The hard disk, started giving off some really loud noises in the morning and by afternoon, BIOS wasn’t even detecting it. I am not sure how long it would take to fix this and how much a new one would cost. Same about data recovery too. Any suggestions or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
