Why doesn't my PC recognize my external hard drive?
I loaded data onto it, and it was reading and writting fine. I then needed to put a different drive into the enclosure, when I went back to the first drive, it wanted me to format it. When I go into the disk manager, it says that it is totally empty. I used demo hard drive recovery software and the data is there! What can I do to make the data accessible again? I also tried converting the drive to NTFS and it stated the the drive already is. I then tried to do a chkdsk and it came back The drive, path is not valid.
I have attached this drive to 2 different computer.
Go to disk management- under administrative tools -in control panel, and assign it a drive letter.
unplug the usb cable and uninstall the usb reboot without the usb unplugged in and reboot again and try the drive again
